GEAR REVIEW - PLAY & FREEZE ICE CREAM MAKER

Okay, so I am not sure that I "had a ball" making ice cream with this thing, but it DID WORK. After tossing, kicking and even playing a couple games of camp site bowling with the thing, it did produce some good tasting ice cream. We only went with the basic recipe and it was really quite good - I bet with a little imagination, a person could really make some good deserts with this thing.

On the flip side, it does take some time and, quite frankly, I got bored with the thing after a while. We had to replenish the ice supply two times (making three total ice fills of the ball) before getting the ice cream really solid. After all that "playing" I was pretty much done with it. If it weren't for the pay off of yummy ice cream, I would probably look for another alternative.

All that being said, if you are a primitive camper with no electricity - then this is really a good tool for whipping up a tasty desert at the end of the day. . . Just be prepared to take some time getting it.

Yep - it makes ice cream all right! And it was really good too. I agree that it does take a bit of work to get the reward, but I think I am more patient than Kevin, so I didn't really mind it so much.

A quick note about our experience. . . We probably went longer than was necessary, so it was a bit difficult to get all the ice cream out of the tube. Speaking of which, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD SPOON to retrieve your ice cream. We used the included tool thinking that it was meant to be a spoon when actually it is only a wrench that can be used to open and close the containers. We sure felt like idiots after discovering that little bit of information.

Read the instructions carefully, and I think you will really enjoy this item - especially the ice cream it produces.
